Musician

An oboist and educator based in Philadelphia and NYC, Erin Lensing performs with orchestras and chamber ensembles across the country, and has performed with the Charleston Symphony, Spoleto Festival USA, Double Entendre Music Ensemble, as a substitute oboist on Broadway, and at venues including Carnegie Hall, Miller Theatre, National Sawdust, The Shed, and more.

Erin’s continued curiosity in exploring all sounds of the oboe has led her to perform with such groups as Ensemble Signal, Ensemble Mise-En, Slee Sinfonietta, and Contemporaneous. She has performed at festivals including Klangspuren Ensemble Modern Academy, Bang on a Can at MASS MoCA, Ukrainian New Music Festival, and June in Buffalo. Erin was a featured soloist at the Third Practice Electroacoustic Music Festival performing works of Tonia Ko and David Clay Mettens for oboe and electronics, gave the NY premiere of Maija Hynninen’s Freedom from Fear for oboe and live electronics at the MISE-EN Music Festival, and has appeared as English horn soloist with the New York Composers Circle. She is currently collaborating with pianist Ada Jeon, to commission new works for oboe and piano including a new work by jazz composer Jihye Lee. She also teaches piano and oboe online, and taught oboe to undergraduates from the University of Rochester as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the Eastman School of Music. 

Erin holds degrees from the University of North Texas (BM) studying with James Ryon, and Charles Veazey, and the Eastman School of Music (MM in Performance and Literature with an Arts Leadership Certificate) studying with Richard Killmer.
